Calcium Acetate

Calcium acetate is the calcium salt of acetic acid of the formula (CH₃COO)₂Ca. Under standard conditions it appears as a white, hygroscopic crystalline solid, with a slight vinegar odor, soluble in water and partially in ethanol, insoluble in organic solvents such as acetone and benzene.

Calcium Acetate, an alkaline earth metal, is classified as a meso element of plant nutrition, as it is a fundamental element for vegetative development.

The functions performed by this element in the plant are many, but mainly connected with the mechanical resistance of the plant tissues, as the calcium pectates carry out a support and reinforcement action on the lamellae of the cell membranes
