Environmental labeling of packaging

ENVIRONMENTAL LABELING OF PACKAGING
Legislative decree 3 September 2020, n. 116, which transposes EU Directive 2018/851 on waste, and Directive (EU) 2018/852 on packaging and packaging waste, provides that on all packaging (primary, secondary and tertiary) producers must indicate, to for the purposes of identification and classification of the packaging, the nature of the packaging materials used, based on Commission Decision 97/129/EC.
On 21 November 2022, Ministerial Decree no. was published. 360 of 28 September 2022, which adopts the Guidelines on environmental labeling for the correct fulfillment of packaging labeling obligations by responsible parties. In compliance with the principles of free movement of goods, the Guidelines underline the possibility of adopting digital channels which can completely replace or integrate the mandatory information reported directly on the packaging.
